Senior Troy Roberts Chosen to Participate in the 2005 adidas MLS Player Combine

BERKELEY - Senior defender Troy Roberts was selected to participate in the 2005 adidas Major League Soccer Player Combine, as announced by the MLS. Roberts is one of the 66 top collegiate players chosen to compete in the event.
MLS general managers and members of all 12 MLS coaching staffs will be at the event to scout players, who were selected to participate by a panel of select NCAA Division I coaches in conjunction with MLS coaches and select NCAA Division II, Division III and NAIA coaches.
From Jan. 8-11, at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., the participants will compete for the attention of MLS coaches and general managers in the hopes of being selected in the MLS SuperDraft on Friday, Jan. 14 in Baltimore, Md.
Roberts, a four-year starter for the Bears, anchored one of the nation's premier defensive units this season. Over the past four years, the Fremont native has started in every match, a combined 83 starts. Roberts was named first team All-Pac-10 this season and in 2003, second-team All-Pac-10 in 2002 and honorable mention All-Pac-10 his freshman year.
