Washington Volleyball Advances To Sweet 16

Seattle - The seventh-seeded Washington volleyball team (26-2) needed all five games to defeat Kansas (19-12) 3-2 to advance to the NCAA Regional Tournament for the second-consecutive season. Game scores were 34-32, 30-26, 25-30, 26-30 and 15-12.
The Huskies were led by Brie Hagerty, who led UW with 22 kills and Sanja Tomasevic who added 19 kills, including Washington's final three in the deciding fifth game. Kansas Paula Caten led all players with 24 kills.
Washington joins No. 2 seed Penn State, No. 10 seed St. Mary's and No. 15 seed UCLA next week at the NCAA Regional in Seattle, Dec. 10-11.
Washington will face St. Mary's on Friday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Bank of America Arena, while Penn State squares off with UCLA at 5 p.m. Friday's winners will play each other in the quarterfinal on Saturday, Dec. 11 with the winner advancing to the Final Four in Long Beach, Calif., Dec. 16-18.
