Diogu Named Pac-10 Men's Basketball Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Arizona State University forward Ike Diogu has been named the U.S. Bank Pacific-10 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for November 29-December 5, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Diogu, a junior from Garland, Texas, averaged 20 points and 14.5 rebounds in leading the Sun Devils to victories over Temple and Cal State Northridge. Against the Owls, Diogu scored 15 points, blocked three shots and pulled down 16 rebounds, including nine on the offensive glass. Versus the Matadors, Diogu poured in 25 points on 7 of 12 shooting, collected 15 rebounds and three blocks. For the week, Diogu made 12 of 22 field goal attempts (.545) and 16 of 17 free throw attempts (.941). The pair of double-doubles he recorded were his second and third this season, pushing his career total to 18.
For the season, Diogu leads the Pac-10 and is ninth nationally in scoring (23.5 ppg). He also leads the Conference in rebounding (10.3) and blocked shots (2.17 bpg). Diogu leads the nation in free throws made (61) and attempted (69) and has scored in double figures in each of the 65 games he has played during his career.
The Sun Devils improved to 5-1 with the pair of victories. They face Fairleigh Dickinson and UC Riverside this week.
This is the second weekly honor for Diogu, and Arizona State's 21st Player of the Week all-time.
