Three USC Volleyball Players Earn AVCA All-Region Honors
Dec. 8, 2004
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - USC senior middle blocker Emily Adams and senior outside hitter Keao Burdine have been named to 2004 AVCA All-Pacific Region first team, announced the AVCA on Wednesday, Dec. 8. Junior middle blocker Bibiana Candelas also earned honorable mention honors.
Twelve first-team selections and six honorable mention picks were chosen in eight regions. In a change from past years, all players selected as either first team or honorable mention are now eligible for All-America honors. The AVCA All-America first, second and third teams will be announced next week.
This is the third first-team selection for Adams and the second for Burdine. Candelas was a first team pick in 2003. All three players went on to earn All-America honors last season.
Eighth-seeded USC travels to Louisville, Ky., this week for the NCAA Regionals. The Women of Troy will face San Diego on Friday, Dec. 10, at 5 p.m. EST. If they advance, they will face the winner of Friday's Louisville-Nebraska match-up on Saturday, Dec. 11, at 6 p.m. EST. The regional champion advances to next week's NCAA Final Four in Long Beach.
