Dec. 11, 2004

LOS ANGELES -- Freshman Brynn Cameron (Newbury Park/Newbury Park HS) tied a school record with six three-pointers as part of a team-high 20-point performance Saturday as the USC Women of Troy defeated the South Dakota State Jackrabbits, 66-59, in nonconference women's basketball action at the Lyon Center.

USC improves to 5-2 on the season under first-year head coach Mark Trakh while SDSU falls to 6-3 overall.

The Women of Troy held off a scrappy Jackrabbit squad as the biggest lead of the game (10 points) only came with 1:08 remaining in the game. Cameron opened the game with four successful three-pointers on her first four attempts.

Meghan Gnekow added 13 points off the bench for USC. Shannon Schlagel led SDSU with 14 points and eight rebounds.

In the first half, two free throws by Kim Gipson broke a 27-27 tie followed by a Camille LeNoir three-pointer to put USC ahead for good. The Women of Troy held a 34-30 lead at halftime.

USC will make a brief two-game road trip, beginning next Saturday (Dec. 18) at BYU and finishing on Tuesday (Dec. 21) at TCU.
