Leinart, Bush, Cody, Grootegoed AP All-American First Teamers

USC quarterback Matt Leinart, tailback Reggie Bush, defensive tackle Shaun Cody and linebacker Matt Grootegoed were all named to the Associated Press All-American first team, it was announced on Monday (Dec. 13). Bush made the team as an all-purpose player.

'It's really a tribute to the kind of season we've had,' said the 2004 Heisman Trophy winning Leinart, in New York on Monday for the Heisman banquet. 'It just speaks volumes for our program.'

USC, which tied with Michigan for the most first teamers, also had defensive tackle Mike Patterson and linebacker Lofa Tatupu on the third team.

On Saturday, the Football Writers Association of America released its team with a pair of Trojans on the first team, Cody on the defensive line and Bush at kick returner.

Also released on Monday was the Rivals.com All-American team, which featured Leinart, Bush and Patterson on the first team. Tatupu made the second team.
