UCLA's Jordan Farmar Named Pac-10 Player Of The Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - UCLA guard Jordan Farmar has been named thePacific-10 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for December6-12, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Farmar, a freshman from Los Angeles, Calif., scored a career-high 25points, and nine of UCLA's final 11 points, in the Bruins' 85-83comeback win over Pepperdine. With UCLA trailing 78-74, Farmar's twofree throws brought the Bruins within two points. With UCLA trailing byfive with 1:30 left, Farmar hit a three-pointer that again pulled histeam within two. With nine seconds left, Farmar sank another pair offree throws to tie the game. Finally, with four seconds remaining,Farmar drove the lane and sank a five-foot bank shot to give UCLA thevictory.
For the contest, Farmar made eight of 11 field goals (.727), wasperfect from three-point range (2-2) and sank all seven of his freethrows attempts. Farmar's game-high 25 points were the most scored by aUCLA freshman since Jason Kapono scored 27 points twice during the1999-2000 season. For the year, Farmar is fifth in the Pac-10 inassists (4.83 apg) and tied for eighth in scoring (14.0 ppg). He isalso tied for third in free throw percentage (.923) and three-pointfield goal percentage (.500).
The Bruins improved to 5-1 with the victory. They host Michigan onSaturday.
This is the first weekly honor for Farmar, and UCLA's 40th Player ofthe Week all-time.
