The race to crown the 2005 Pacific-10 Conference women's basketball champion tips off next week, with all 10 Conference teams beginning play Dec. 27 or 28... At the opposite end of an 18-game Pac-10 schedule, the 2005 State Farm Pac-10 Tournament bracket awaits... But first, nine teams will play non-conference tilts Tuesday night, including three matchups that feature ranked teams: the No. 2/2 STANFORD Cardinal (8-0 overall), four-time defending Pac-10 Champion, at No. 9/10 Tennessee, defending national champion No. 8/8 Connecticut at nr/No. 25 ARIZONA STATE (7-2) and No. 20/17 UCLA (6-2) at No. 10/7 Ohio State... The Cardinal opens Conference play at the Oregon schools next week... nr/No. 24 OREGON (7-1), off to its best start since 1996-97, edged Stanford 67-66 during the teams' last meeting in Eugene (Feb. 26, 2004)... At this juncture, Pac-10 teams have posted a 57-27 record against non-conference competition (.679) including five wins over Top-25 opponents.

ARIZONA: SR G Dee-Dee Wheeler tied the Arizona single-game records for points (35) and three-pointers made (7) in the Wildcats' 96-80 win over UC Santa Barbara... UA notched its 33rd consecutive home victory with the Dec. 16 win over the Gauchos... Arizona does not play at home again until Jan. 7.

ARIZONA STATE: The Sun Devils take on their third ranked opponent of the season Tuesday night against No. 8/8 Connecticut in the team's Hoops for the Cause game... Arizona State has won eight straight home games and 21 of their last 23 at Wells Fargo Arena... ASU has allowed a Pac-10-low 16 three-point field goals on the season, and ranks fourth in the nation in scoring defense (48.6 ppg) through games as of Dec. 13.

CALIFORNIA: Winners of 11 straight non-conference home games, the Bears host Hampton Tuesday night in their final non-conference tilt of the regular season... SR G Kristin Iwanaga is leading the nation in three-point percentage, shooting at a .760 clip (19-of-25), while Cal leads the country... As a team, the Bears have made 48-of-94 (.511).

OREGON: SR F Cathrine Kraayeveld scored a game-high 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds against No. 10/7 Ohio State, as Oregon suffered its first loss on the year... The Ducks have held their opponents to 57 points or less in all but two games (Ohio State, Miami)... SR C Andrea Bills has played in 100 straight games, including 81 consecutive appearances in the starting lineup.

OREGON STATE: The Beavers play just their second home game of the season Tuesday night against Pacific... Oregon State will play three in a row at Gill Coliseum, including games with California and Stanford to open Pac-10 play... SR G Shannon Howell began the week as the national scoring leader (25.1 ppg) through games as of Dec. 13.

STANFORD: JR C Brooke Smith scored a team-high 16 points, including 12 in the second half, in the Cardinal's 71-55 win at Missouri on Dec. 18... Smith leads the team in scoring (12.3 ppg) and field goal percentage (.592)... Smith and SO C Kristen Newlin have combined for 21 blocks on the season... The Cardinal is allowing just 49.1 points per game on the season... Stanford enters Tuesday night's game at No. 9/10 Tennessee with a 1-0 record against ranked opponents this year, after posting a 3-3 mark in 2003-04.

UCLA: The Bruins play their second straight road game against a Big Ten opponent at No. 10/7 Ohio State Tuesday night... In its loss to Illinois on Dec. 19, UCLA surrendered more than 65 points for just the second time this season... The Bruins own a 13-0 record, dating back to last season, when SO G Noelle Quinn scores at least 20 points... With 135 career treys, JR G Lisa Willis needs just two more three-pointers to become UCLA's all-time leader.

USC: The Women of Troy complete their non-conference season at TCU for a Tuesday night matchup... The Horned Frogs have faced two previous Pac-10 teams this season, notching wins over UCLA (Nov. 19) and California (Nov. 26)... USC has won four of its last five games by an average of 16.3 points... In her last three outings, FR G Brynn Cameron is shooting 55.0 percent (11-of-20) from beyond the arc.

WASHINGTON: SO G Cameo Hicks notched a season-high 15 points in Washington's loss to No. 6/9 Baylor on Dec. 15... The Huskies pace the Pac-10 in three-point field goals made, averaging 6.99 per game this season... SO G Cheri Craddock and JR G Kristen O'Neill have drained 16 treys each, while JR G Kayla Burt, the team's leading scorer (11.0 ppg), has 15 on the season.

WASHINGTON STATE: The Cougars complete their non-conference slate with a first-ever meeting with Valparaiso Tuesday night... Coming off a one-point loss to Eastern Washington, WSU has yet to string together two wins or lose back-to-back games this season... SO F Kate Benz (8.5 ppg), second in the league in rebounding behind Arizona's Shawntinice Polk (8.6 rpg), has a shot to become the first Cougar to ever capture the Conference rebounding title.
