Bears Hold First Workout in San Diego

Dec. 24, 2004

SAN DIEGO - In preparation for the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl, the California football team held its first workout in San Diego Friday in advance of its Dec. 30 game against Texas Tech.

All of the Golden Bears arrived at the team hotel by early in the afternoon, and then bused to the San Diego State campus, where they spent just over an hour practicing in shorts.

The session was the first for Cal since last Tuesday when the Bears last went through drills in Berkeley before taking a break to visit family and friends during this holiday season.

Cal will practice daily in San Diego before facing the Red Raiders in the 21st annual Holiday Bowl. Among the non-football activities for the Bears during their stay are a Sunday visit to Sea World and a Tuesday trip to the San Diego Zoo.

The Holiday Bowl contest kicks off at 5 p.m. Dec. 30.
