Husky Gym Team Opens at Cal-State Fullerton

Seattle - The 21st-ranked Washington women's gymnastics team opens its 2005 season in a four-team meet at Cal-State Fullerton on Friday, Jan.7 at 7 p.m. PT. The meet also features 12th-ranked Oregon State and Sacramento State.

The 2005 roster includes eight returning letterwinners and nine newcomers. Last season the Huskies posted a 12-10-1 record and finished fifth at the NCAA North Central Regionals. Senior Carly Dockendorf was the lone Husky to advance to the NCAA Championships last year and finished tied for 24th in the floor.

Dockendorf and freshman Brittney Brabec will compete as All-Arounders for the Huskies, under the direction of 16th-year head coach Bob Levesque, in Fullerton. Besides Brabec, other Huskies expected to make their collegiate debuts will be Natalie Gillan, Raimey Iselin, and Julie Medeiros. Senior Molly Seaman is recovering from clean up surgery on her left knee and is expected to miss two weeks of action.

Washington's next meet will be at ninth-ranked Arizona State on Friday, Jan. 14 at 6:30 p.m. in Wells Fargo Arena. The Huskies first home meet will be on Friday, Jan. 21 at 7:00 p.m. in Bank of America Arena against third-ranked Stanford.
