QUICKLY...The University of Colorado (7-4, 0-0 Big 12 Conference) will open its conference season against the University of Nebraska (8-4, 0-0 Big 12) on Wednesday, Jan. 5, at the Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln, Neb. The game is slated for a 6:05 p.m. tip and will be broadcast live on Fox Sports Net-Rocky Mountain.
BUFFS ON THE AIR...All Colorado women's basketball regular and post season games are broadcast live on KKZN AM 760, Boulder's Progressive Talk station. Tim Smile will handle play by play duties and is joined by USA Basketball's Carol Callan with the color commentary.
31ST SEASON...Colorado is in its 31st season of varsity women's basketball sporting an all-time record of 584-317 (.648). The Buffaloes have made 12 NCAA Tournament appearances, all since 1988, including six Sweet 16 appearances and three trips to the Elite Eight (1993, 1995 & 2002).
BUFFS LOOKING UP...Colorado has answered an early December three-game losing streak with a current five-game win streak, including the Buffaloes first two road wins of the 2004-05 season. Sophomore forward Anna Nedovic leads a balanced CU scoring attack at 12.3 points per contest. Nedovic, who also posts a team-high 7.1 rebounds per game, is one of six Buffs averaging at least seven points per game. Freshman forward Jackie McFarland is at 9.9 points an outing, is third on the team in free-throw percentage (27x37, .730) and in rebounds (5.7 rpg). Classmate Kara Richards rounds out CU's front court averaging 9.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and a team-best 1.36 blocks per game. Sophomore Jasmina Ilic averages 8.4 points per game and is second in free-throw percentage (11x15, .733). Junior shooting guard Whitney Law is sixth on the squad in the scoring column (7.8 ppg) and ranks fourth in the Big 12 in 3-point field-goal percentage at .458 (11-of-24). Senior point guard Veronica Johns-Richardson is averaging 10.9 points per contest and paces the Buffaloes in steals (25) and assists (33).
