Baseball To Hold Open House At Packard Stadium This Saturday

TEMPE, Ariz. (www.TheSunDevils.com) -- Arizona State baseball fans and media are invited to attend a special open house this Saturday (Jan. 15) from 3-5 p.m. at Packard Stadium.
Fans will get the chance to tour the player's clubhouse that sits down the left field line at Packard Stadium. They will also have the chance to interact with and get autographs from all 32 members of the 2005 squad, pick up season tickets and participate in a Q&A session with 11th-year head coach Pat Murphy. Food and beverages will be served on the new terrace level of the new clubhouse. The first-time event has also been designed to create excitement leading up to the annual Alumni game on Jan. 22.
The open house will begin at 3 p.m. and will feature an autograph session at 4 p.m. and Murphy's Q&A at 4:30 p.m. Parking is free outside Packard Stadium and individuals attending the open house will receive a discount voucher for the ASU men's Basketball game vs. USC that evening at 6 p.m. at Wells Fargo Arena. Free food and beverage and discount basketball vouchers will be available while supplies last.
The new player's facility is a state-of-the-art addition to the Sun Devil baseball program. The clubhouse features 40 cherry wood lockers, along with couches, tables and a big screen TV. A spacious training room was also added, along with an equipment room. A head coaches office was also added on the terrace level of the new facility.
The terrace level, which has elevator access for handicap seating, utilizes a unique view of the playing surface at Packard Stadium that is sure to be a hit with Sun Devil fans. A new grass berm was also installed down the left field line.
The Sun Devils head into the 2005 season with preseason rankings of No. 9 from Baseball America and No. 11 from Collegiate Baseball. Featuring preseason All-Americans Travis Buck, Jason Urquidez and Jeff Larish, the Sun Devils return 14 letterwinners and 12 starters from the 2004 team that finished 41-18 overall and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth straight year. The Devils unofficially open the 2005 season Jan. 22 with the annual alumni game at Packard Stadium (1 p.m.) and officially kick off the 2005 slate with a three-game series at home against No. 14 Long Beach State Jan. 28-30 (6:30 p.m., 1 p.m., 1 p.m.).
