WACO, Texas (AP) - Aaron Bruce scored 14 points and Tommy Swanson added 13 points and 10 rebounds to lead Baylor to a 67-59 win over Colorado on Wednesday night.
Baylor (9-4, 1-2 Big 12) opened the second half with an 11-5 run and took a 45-34 lead over Colorado with just under 15 minutes remaining.
Colorado (8-7, 0-4) pulled to within seven points twice, but the Bears sank 5-of-8 free throws in the final two minutes to clinch their first Big 12 win this season.
Colorado's Richard Roby led all scorers with 15 points, and Glean Eddy added 12 for the Buffaloes. The loss sends the Buffaloes to their first 0-4 start ever in the Big 12.
Baylor outscored Colorado 18-1 to open the game, holding the Buffaloes scoreless for almost nine minutes.
But by halftime, Colorado reduced Baylor's lead to 34-29 as Roby scored 13 first half points.
With the victory, Baylor surpassed last season's record of eight wins and gave Baylor its first conference triumph since February 25, 2004.
