BOULDER- The University of Colorado's storied distance programs will be well represented when current Buffs Renee Metivier, Liza Pasciuto, Bradley Harkrader and Chris Pannone join nine alums at the 2005 USA Cross Country Championships and World Cross Country Team Trials this Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 12-13, at the Vancouver National Historic Site in Vancouver, Wash.

The top six finishers in the championships' open and junior races will be invited to represent the United States at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships, March 19-20) in Saint Galmier, France.             Since 1999, seven Buffs have been crowned national champions while 26 have advanced to the world championships since 1995.

Metivier is currently a double entry in both the open women's 4 and 8k races, while Pasciuto (6k), Harkrader and Pannone (8k) are entered in their respective junior contests.  The pressure will be on Harkrader and Pannone to extend CU's streak of Junior Men's National Championship titles to three straight.  Billy Nelson won in 2003, followed by Pete Janson in '04.

CU cross country and track alums also toeing the line this weekend include Jorge Torres (4/12k), Edwardo Torres (12k), Adam Goucher (4/12k) and Dathan Ritzenhein (12k) in the men's open races and Molly Austin (4/8k), Shayne (Wille) Culpepper (4k), Carrie Messner (4k), Carrie Zografos (4k) and Brianna Torres (4/8k) in the women's field.
