LOS ANGELES -- The USC baseball team (4-0) -- winner of 12 NCAA championships, more than twice as many as any other school -- travels to No. 3 Cal State Fullerton (5-1) on Saturday (Feb. 19) at 6 p.m. and Sunday (Feb. 20) at 1 p.m. at Goodwin Field. NATIONAL SHOWDOWN -- Saturday's game between Cal State Fullerton and USC features two of the top pitchers in the nation: Ricky Romero (Cal State Fullerton) and Ian Kennedy (USC). Both pitchers played last summer for the 2004 U.S. National Team. Romero is 2-0 with a 1.38 ERA (13 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 7 BB, 14 SO, .098 opponents' batting average) while Kennedy is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA (7 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 9 SO, .160 opponents' batting average).

RANKINGS -- Cal State Fullerton is ranked No. 2 by ESPN/USA Today Baseball Weekly and No. 3 by Baseball America. USC is ranked No. 20 by ESPN/USA Today Baseball Weekly.

NO. 3 CAL STATE FULLERTON NOTES -- No. 3 Cal State Fullerton is 5-1 on the season after a two-game sweep at home last weekend over Fresno State and a 10-2 win on Tuesday at Loyola Marymount. Head coach George Horton, who led CSF to its fourth national championship last year, is 360-155-1 in his ninth season with the Titans. The team is batting .325 while its pitching staff has a 3.50 ERA. Ronnie Prettyman leads the team with a .429 average with a home run, five RBI and four stolen bases. Cal State Fullerton leads the all-time series with USC by a 35-32-1 margin.
