Offensive Player of the Week Nominee:
Jeff Larish, Sr., 1B/OF, Tempe, Ariz.
Senior Jeff Larish put together an amazing offensive performance over the weekend to help the Sun Devils to a pair of wins. Larish hit .474 (9-for-19) with nine runs scored, two doubles, four home runs and nine RBI. He recorded 23 total bases for a 1.211 slugging percentage and also added three walks for a .545 on-base percentage. He went 4-for-6 with two home runs and four RBI and tied the school record with six runs score din ASU's 30-13 win over Western Illinois. Larish recorded a pair of multi-home run games, his second and third of the seasons. For the season, Larish is batting .311 (32-for-103) with eight doubles, one triple, nine home runs and 28 RBI. He has recorded three multi-home run games and has eight of his nine home runs spread across four days during the season. His nine home runs are already two more than his season total from 2004 and half way to his sophomore total of 18... Over the weekend he made starts at first base and in left field and also played center field and shortstop. His four home runs over the weekend give him 37 in his career, moving into eighth place in the ASU career record books. He also has 196 RBI to move into seventh place and his 155 walks are second in ASU history.

Pitcher of the Week Nominee:
Erik Averill, Jr., LHP, Orange, Calif.
Junior left-handed pitcher Erik Averill scattered seven hits (six singles) and allowed only one run over five innings to earn the victory over Western Illinois. With four strikeouts and only one walk, Averill improved to 4-2 on the season with the win and has lasted five or more innings in each of his last six starts. Overall he is 4-2 with a team-leading 3.32 ERA and has struck out 40 and walked only eight in 43.1 innings. For his career, Averill is 16-8 with a 4.16 ERA and 157 strikeouts in 205.2 innings (53 appearances, 26 starts).

ASU Player Notes:
Junior All-American outfielder Travis Buck continued his hot hitting going 11-for-22 (.500) over the weekend with two doubles, two triples and seven RBI... he went 6-for-8 against Western Illinois (3/13) to rank tied for second in the ASU single-game record books with six hits... overall he is hitting .351 (39-for-111) with 26 runs scored, nine doubles, two triples and 19 RBI... over his last 10 games he is hitting .480 (24-for-50) with eight extra base hits and 15 RBI... during the hot 10-game streak, Buck has raised his batting average 105 points from .246 to .351 with multi-hit games in seven of those 10 contests... Buck made three starts at third base over the weekend... his previous 145 career starts all came in either right field or center field... redshirt freshman Seth Dhaenens entered the weekend hitting only .077, but went 4-for-10 (.400) with five runs and seven RBI... he recorded a career-high six RBI against Western Illinois (3/13) and hit his first career home run... redshirt freshman Rocky Laguna started three of the four games over the weekend and went 8-for-14 (.571) with a double, triple and four runs scored... for the season Laguna is tied for the team lead hitting .375 (15-for-40) with 12 RBI... freshman Willy Fox hit .533 (8-for-15) in the four games with nine runs scored and three doubles... he hit his fourth home run of the year (all to the opposite field) and in his nine starts this season is hitting .412 (14-for-34) with four home runs and 15 RBI... overall he is hitting .375 (15-for-40)... senior catcher Tuffy Gosewisch hit a home run in each game Sunday (WIU/LSU) and has four home runs on the season... his four home runs equal his career total entering the 2005 season... overall Gosewisch is hitting .340 (33-for-97) with five doubles and leads the team with 25 RBI... the Johnny Bench Award candidate has still not made an error in 213 total chances and has thrown out 13 of 29 attempted base stealers... freshman shortstop Andrew Romine hit .571 (8-for-14) over the weekend, including going 5-for-5 vs. Western Illinois (3/13)... Romine is hitting .303 (23-for-76) with four doubles and 11 RBI... freshman reserve catcher Austin Stockfisch recorded a pair of multi-hit games off the bench over the weekend and is 4-for-5 (.800) this season... senior RHP Jason Urquidez was roughed up for seven hits and nine runs in 2.2 innings against LSU... he entered the game not having given up an earned run out of the bullpen in his previous 14.0 innings... junior LHP Brett Bordes did not give up a run over two outings (3.2 IP) and has not given up a run in his last five outings (6.0 IP)... freshman RHP Seth Garrison struck out a career-high five batters in four shutout innings to earn the save against Western Illinois (3/12).

ASU Notes:
The Sun Devils went 2-2 over the weekend ... after 25 games the Sun Devils are 13-12 overall, with 11 of those losses coming against teams that have been ranked in the national polls at some point this year... the four-game series in Baton Rouge, La., ended a seven-game road trip in which the Sun Devils went 5-2... ASU played 15 of its last 18 games away from Packard Stadium and will continue that trend with six of its next 12 on the road... ASU has played 11 of its last 15 games against top 10 opponents... the Sun Devils have won seven of their last 10 games... ASU hit .412 (73-for-177) over the weekend with seven players recording five or more hits in the four games... the offensive outburst raised ASU's team batting average 26 points from .278 to its current mark of .304... the 35 hits in Sunday's 30-13 win over Western Illinois set a school record, breaking the old record of 31 set in 1988 vs. UNLV... the 15-run ninth inning also tied a school record (Mar. 6, 1980 vs. Stanford) and the 16 hits in the ninth frame set a school record... ASU also set the record for total bases (57), tied for fourth in RBI (29), second in at-bats (61), tied for fourth in home runs (5) and tied for fourth in runs (30)... ASU hit nine home runs over the weekend (four by Larish), nearly doubling their season total coming into the weekend (11)... through 25 games the Sun Devils have nine triples, already eclipsing the seven total from last season... ASU is 46-for-63 (73%) stealing bases this season and 10 players have two or more stolen bases... the pitching staff gave up 33 runs (27 earned) in the final two games of the weekend to help contribute to the inflated 8.47 team ERA over the weekend... the last two games helped raise the team ERA 66 points from 4.46 to its current mark of 5.12... the bullpen had it scoreless innings streak snapped at 21.0 innings... freshman LHP Josh Satow became the 16th newcomer and 10th true freshman to see action for the Sun Devils this season... ASU used all 26 players it brought on the road trip and have played 29 of the 31 players on the roster this season... in 25 game this season, 11th-year head coach Pat Murphy has used 20 different starting batting lineups and 16 different defensive lineups.
