Bruno Barbic Places 18th In 100 Free At NCAA Championships

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.- Washington freshman Bruno Barbic made a strong showing on the final day of the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships, finishing 18th in the 100 freestyle with a time of 43.60. The time fell just short of his own school record of 43.48 set at the 2005 Pac-10 Championships and was two places short of advancing to tonight`s final heat.

Barbic finishes his participation in the NCAA Championship with two top-25 finishes. Barbic placed 22nd in the 50 freestyle on Thursday.

The Huskies conclude the 2004-05 season with six school records and 15 swimmers either entering or climbing the school's top-10 lists. Barbic set school records in the 50 and 100 freestyles, while freshman Peter Wicklund set the UW record in the 200 freestyle and senior Diogo Bezerra set the record in the 200 backstroke.
