Bixler's 68 Leads Huskies at National Invitational

Behind the 4-under 68 of freshman Zach Bixler (Richland), the 25th-ranked Washington men's golf team moved up to 13th at the National Invitational Tournament being played at Tucson National Golf Club. The Huskies shot 3-over 291 Monday and enter Tuesday's final round at 5-over 581 after 36 holes of play.

TCU held onto its first round lead after shooting 5-under 283 during the second round. The Horned Frogs lead Arkansas by a single stroke at 559 while Texas and Arizona are tied for third at 562.

Bixler is tied for ninth with five other players at 4-under 140 with 18 holes of play remaining. He is looking to make his second straight top-10 finish after placing fourth at Oregon's Duck Invitational last week. Bixler finished that event at 3-under 213.

Alex Prugh, who was eighth after the first round, dropped back to 15th overall, just a single-stroke behind Bixler. Prugh shot 1-over 73 Monday after starting the tournament with a 68. James Lepp and Sterling Clark are tied for 66th at 150 while Erik Olson is 73rd at 152.

TCU's J.J. Killeen continues to lead the 75-man field after two rounds. Killeen carded a three-under 69 Monday and leads the event by one stroke with a nine-under 135 total. Four players are tied for second place at eight-under 136.
