Troy Finishes Ninth At National Invitational Tournament

The No. 15 USC men's golf team shot a two-under-par 286 for the second consecutive day to finish tied for ninth on the final day of the Wal-Mart National Invitational on Tuesday (March 29) in Tucson, Ariz.
Senior Ben Hayes, who shot a final-round 66, was USC's highest finisher, tying for 19th overall with a three-day total of 213 (-3). He began Tuesday tied for 53rd and moved up thanks to a round of 66 that tied for second-best of the afternoon.
Sophomore Joshua Wooding shot a 75 to finish tied for 41st while junior Tyler Ley shot a 70 to finish tied for 50th. Senior Nico Bollini came in at 78 on Tuesday and finished tied for 54th while junior Taylor Wood shot a 75 and finished tied for 63rd.
TCU won the event with a three-day team total of 838. USC finished with a combined total of 859 in the 14-team field.
'The team is doing a lot of things well right now and we feel like we are on the verge of making a significant breakthrough,' said USC coach Kurt Schuette. 'We are excited about our opportunity to compete again at Augusta State.'
