Trojans Tied For 11th Place After First Round Of Augusta State Invitational

The No. 15 Trojan golf squad posted a 29-over-par 317 in extremely windy conditions to finish tied for 11th place with the University of North Carolina after the first round of play at the Augusta State Invitational in Augusta, Ga.
Play was suspended at the Forest Hills Golf Club following the first round due to dangerous wind gusts that reached up to 35 mph.
Junior Bradley Shaw led the Trojans after firing a five-over 77 to tie for 17th place with four other golfers from the 90-man field. Classmate Tyler Ley shot a six-over par 78 and is currently tied for 22nd.
Seniors Nico Bollini and Ben Hayes both ended the first round with a nine-over 81 and are tied for 55th place with 12 other competitors. Sophomore Joshua Wooding is tied for 73rd after shooting an 11-over 83.
The East Tennessee State Buccaneers were able to overcome the elements, posting a 15-over-par 303 to lead second-place finisher and tournament host Augusta State by one stroke and third-place Georgia Southern by two stokes.
