Swimmers Represent at World Championship Trials

Indianapolis, Ind. - - Freshmen Felicia Castaneda and Courtney Eads both finished the World Championship Trials strong with each garnering a B-standard finish. The meet officially ends April 6, but all Oregon State swimmers have finished their events.

Castaneda, Eads, and Senior All-American Mari Embertson competed at this week long event for a chance to represent the United States at both the World University Games and the World Championships.

On Friday, Embertson swam to a 31st place finish in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:22.93. Also swimming on Friday, Courtney Eads finished 44th in the 100 butterfly, with a time of 1:03.59, and 36th in the 400 freestyle where she touched the wall with a time of 4:26.05.

Eads was the only OSU swimmer to compete on Saturday when she finished 64th in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:08.23.

Sunday marked the debut of Felicia Castaneda at the meet. Castaneda swam in the 100 breaststroke where broke through for a strong; B-finals finish of 1:12.92, good enough for 15th overall in the event. Also swimming, Mari Embertson finished 31st in the 400 individual medley with a time of 5:00.71.

Monday marked another solo performance for the Beavers with only Courtney Eads swimming. Eads swam to her best finish at the meet with a B-finals finish in the 200 butterfly. Her time of 2:18.05 placed 16th in the event.

Felicia Castaneda finished out the meet for the Beavers earlier today in the 200 breaststroke. Castaneda finished 47th in the event with a time of 2:43.49.
