Emilsson Runs Lifetime-Best in the Steeple at Mt. SAC Relays

Junior Erik Emilsson ran a lifetime-best (8:40.40) in the 3000m Steeplechase on Friday evening at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, CA. Emilsson, running in the invitational section, placed sixth overall, dropping his personal-best time by over six seconds (old best 8:46.65 at Stanford, 3/26). His time moved him to fourth on the national collegiate list and was a regional qualifying time.

Freshman Mike Haddan, running in the University/Open 800m, placed 12th overall in a time of 1:52.31. Haddan has a seasonal-best of 1:51.85, which he ran at the UCLA Invitational on March 5.

The Bruin distance runners will continue their competition on Sunday as seniors Jon Rankin and Ben Aragon compete in the Invitational 800m and junior Martell Munguia runs in the Olympic Development/University/Open 800m.

The majority of the Bruin men's track and field team is competing in Tempe, AZ at the Sun Angel Invitational on Saturday where they will face some of the top teams in the country, like LSU. Several Bruins will also be competing at the Long Beach Relays in Long Beach, CA on Saturday.
