Negriff Fifth In Triple at Mt. SAC
WALNUT, Calif. - University of Colorado senior jumper Liza Negriff finished fifth in the women's triple jump, and classmate Carly Newlands seventh in the shot put, on the final day of the 47th annual Mt. SAC Relays here Sunday.
Negriff's jump of 40-4.75 is her second regional qualifying jump of the season and second best effort this year. Newlands, who regionally qualified last week in the event, had a toss of 41-9.25 which fell shy of her best effort this season.
The Colorado track and field teams will return to action Saturday, April 23 when the team will be divided to compete in three different meets, in three different states and as many time zones. Four distance runners will run in Eugene, Ore., several sprinters will compete at the Michael Johnson Invitational in Waco, Texas while the remainder of the squad will be in nearby Fort Collins for the Jack Christiansen Invite on the Colorado State University campus.
