April 28, 2005

Oregon State Men's Rowing takes on the Washington Huskies at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 30, at Montlake Cut on Seattle's Lake Washington. Also racing UW is Oregon State's Women's Crew.

The dual with the Huskies marks the first time this spring the Beavers have faced No. 3-ranked Washington. The Beavers Varsity 8 has a record of 3-2 this season with both losses coming at the hands of top teams, No. 5 Stanford and No. 2 California.

'UW has a really talented group of guys that I know from my time there,' said Oregon State head coach Fred Honebein. 'We've got our hands full. That said, our goal is to have the best race possible and to be ready to take advantage of any mistakes (by the Huskies).'

OSU's Varsity 8 is expected to be led by senior coxswain, Dylan Moro (Joseph, OR) and manned by Matt Wisbeck (Jr., Boring, OR), Adam Wing (Sr., Union, OR), junior Greg Everett (Jr., Laguna Niguel, CA), Norman Wentworth (Sr., Astoria, OR), Ben Moser (So., Corvallis, OR), Ben Sherrett (So., Stanfield, OR), Jay Schamber (Sr., Alsea, OR), and Adam Carlton (Sr., Seattle, WA).

Beaver fans making the trip to Seattle can watch the racing from the Montlake Bridge near the Husky football stadium. The bridge spans the race course near the finish line and provides a view of the entire 2000-meter course.

After the Husky dual, Oregon State will race at Pac-10 Championships, Sunday, May 15 in Sacramento, Calif. Pac-10s are the regional qualifier for NCAA Championships.
