MBB Inks Student-Athlete For 2005-06 Season
BOULDER - University of Colorado men's basketball coach Ricardo Patton announced officially on Friday that Dominique Coleman, a junior college guard at Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, Fla. has signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball for the Buffaloes next season.
Coleman, a 6-foot-4 guard led the National Junior College Athletic Association in scoring last season, averaging 27.1 points with 7.2 rebounds a game. Coleman also ranked seventh nationally in steals per game (3.8) and led Hillsborough to a 19-11 record this past year. Hillsborough was defeated in the championship game of Florida's junior college tournament.
"I think Dominique has a chance to be a very terrific player in the Big 12," said Patton. "He has a scorers mentality and was one the leading scorers in the junior college ranks. Dominique has good size and athleticism about him and I think he's one of the pieces that we need to compliment Richard Roby and his scoring ability."
Coleman joins 6-foot-7 small forward Calvin Williams (Memphis, Tenn./Hillcrest High School), who signed during the fall signing period.
Colorado has a very talented and experienced team returning for the 2005-06 season. Thirteen players return with 10 seniors, one junior and two sophomores.
