Saye Places Second in Women's Hammer Throw at UCLA/USC Dual Meet

UCLA got a second-place finish from senior Lara Saye in the hammer throw held Friday at West Los Angeles College. The hammer throw is the first event in the annual traditional UCLA/USC track & field dual meet. The remainder of the meet will continue tomorrow at USC.

USC swept both the women and men's hammer throws and the Trojans enter Saturday's competition with a 6-3 lead in the women's competition and a 5-4 advantage in the men's.

Saye's second-place mark was 167-10, picking up three points for the Bruins. USC sophomore Julia Rozenfeld won the event (199-5/five points) and her Trojan teammate, sophomore Alexandra Williams, placed third (personal-best 164-11/one point).

UCLA senior Jessica Cosby, the Pac-10 record-holder (219-5), managed only one legal attempt (96-5) and finished fourth.

On Saturday
The dual meet will resume at USC's Loker Stadium/Cromwell Field. The first events will start at 11 a.m. and the meet will conclude at 3:35 p.m., with the running of the 4 X 400m relays.
