Cardinal Fall To Washington 6-4

Seattle, Wash. - The fourth-ranked Stanford softball team fell to No. 22 Washington, 6-4, on a rainy afternoon at Husky Stadium. The Cardinal drop to 35-10 overall, 8-4 in the Pac-10 while the Huskies improve to 26-15, 5-6 in league action.
The Huskies got on the board early with a run in the bottom of the first and picked up one more in the second to go up, 2-0.
To singles by Meghan Sickler and Catalina Morris put runners on first and third for the Cardinal in the top of the third. Lauren Lappin cleared the bases with her fifth homerun of the season to give Stanford the 3-2 lead.
Washington tied it up in the bottom of the third on a solo homerun by Kristen Rivera.
The Huskies opened it up in the fourth when UW picked up three more runs off of reliever Laura Severson.
Stanford scored a single run in the top of the sixth when a groundout by Morris scored pinch runner Shoney Hixson from third.
Junior Laura Severson (14-5) took the loss for Stanford in the circle, allowing 3 runs on three hits over three innings of work. Ashley Boek (14-8) picked up the win in relief for Washington, going four innings with one run on two hits.
The Cardinal are back in action tomorrow in Los Angeles, against UCLA at 2 p.m.
