Sumantri Named ITA Northwest Region Senior Player of the Year

SEATTLE - Washington senior Dea Sumantri was named the ITA Northwest Region Senior Player of the Year, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced. With her regional honor, Sumantri will be in the running for the national ITA Senior Player of the Year award to be named during the NCAA Championships on May 22 in Athens, Ga.

Sumantri, who will represent UW in the upcoming NCAA singles championship, was also named to the All-Pac-10 second-team this year. A two-time All-American, Sumantri has been the Huskies' top singles player all season and leads the squad with an overall record 26-13. She also ranks second on the UW's all-time lists for singles wins (102) and doubles wins (85). She is tied for second in career doubles victories with current UW assistant coach Darija Klaic. Sumantri is currently ranked 18th nationally in singles.

The Huskies will face Long Beach State in NCAA first round action in Los Angeles, Friday, May 13, at 10 a.m. PT.
