This Week: The No. 2 Golden Bears head to Rancho Cordova, CA for the Pac-10 Championships held at Lake Natoma. Cal's varsity eight went undefeated during the regular season and look to start the post-season with a second consecutive Pac-10 Title. Last year the varsity eight finished first ahead of Washington, USC, Stanford, Washington State and UCLA.

The Competition: Cal's varsity eight will face two teams ranked in the Top 20, by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association/USRowing poll, in the first round: No. 13 USC and No. 16 UCLA. The Bears will also face Gonzaga, Sacramento State, and UC Davis. Other ranked opponents in the field include No. 10 Stanford, No. 12 Washington, and No. 19 Washington State.

Big Row Recap (4/30/05): The varsity eight, second varsity eight, novice eight, varsity four and novice four all posted wins at Redwood Shores. In the featured event, the Bears led the Cardinal wire-to-wire in the varsity eight race, finishing in 6:34.27 to Stanford's 6:40.52. The rivals were virtually tied after the first 500 meters, but Cal moved ahead by nearly a second and a half at the midway point. The Bears then increased their advantage to almost six seconds with 500 meters left and maintained their edge the rest of the way. The Bears won all five races for the second consecutive year.
