Kosturos Named to ESPN Magazine's District 8 All-Academic Second Team

EUGENE, Ore. - Washington State's Zach Kosturos was named to ESPN The Magazine's District Eight All-Academic Baseball Second Team Thursday. The recent 2005 WSU graduate carried a 3.52 GPA in communication and business administration and is currently hitting .265 for the season.

The redshirt junior is a co-captain of the 2005 WSU (20-29, 0-15 Pacific-10) squad in his second year wearing the crimson pinstripes. Prior to coming to Washington State the Olympia, Wash. native played for current Cougar head coach Donnie Marbut at Edmonds Community College.

Through 49 games this season the designated hitter has 31 hits, including 15 extra-base hits. He is tied for first on the team with 11 doubles, leads the team and is tied for fifth among Pac-10 batters with three triples and has one home run this season. He has driven home 22 runs and scored as many in 42 appearances, including 28 starts this year.

Kosturos is batting .274 for his Cougar career, tallying 57 hits, including 16 doubles, three triples and three home runs with 34 RBI and 38 runs scored.

After the 2005 season Kosturos and his wife plan to stay in Pullman, where he will attend bible college, studying to be a pastor.
