Top-ranked Stanford Takes 1-0 Lead Over Army

Stanford, Calif. - Stanford took the early 1-0 lead at the First Round of the NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championship this afternoon at the Taube Tennis Center. All-Americans Alice Barnes and Erin Burdette played at the No. 2 spot and posted the first win of the day with an 8-1 victory over Army's Megan Noble and Christine Ong. Whitney Deason and Theresa Logar picked up the second win to clinch the doubles point for Stanford, as the duo scored an 8-2 victory over Amanda Paluch and Pam Chavez. Amber Liu and Anne Yelsey owned a small edge over Marissa Limsiaco and Amy Morgenstern on court one, when the match was called.
