No. 4 Stanford Falls to No. 3 Arizona, 1-0

Stanford, Calif. - Fourth-ranked Stanford was edged by third-ranked Arizona in a 1-0 contest tonight at Boyd and Jill Smith Family Stadium. With the loss, the Cardinal remain in a tie for first place with Oregon State and California. Stanford is now 40-13 on the season, with a 13-7 mark in Pac-10 play, while Arizona improves to 38-10 overall and 12-8 in conference action.
The Widlcats pushed across the game's only run in the third inning, as Caitlin Lowe scored on an RBI single by Jackie Coburn. Lowe led Arizona at the plate with a 3-for-4 night while Kristie Fox pitched in with a pair of singles for the Wildcats.
The Cardinal had its best scoring opportunity in the second inning, with Erin Howe and Meghan Sickler both reaching base on singles. Arizona pitcher Alicia Hollowell ended the threat by getting Tricia Aggabao to ground out to second base.
Stanford and Arizona will wrap up the regular season tomorrow at Smith Family Stadium with a 1 p.m. match-up. The NCAA Tournament selections will be announced on Sunday.
