Bruins Will Play Host to NCAA Softball Regional 7

The two-time defending NCAA Champion UCLA Bruin softball team begins its title defense on Friday, May 20 vs. Loyola Marymount at Easton Stadium. Cal State Fullerton and UNLV will also travel to Los Angeles for Regional play.

Regional play will begin on Friday morning at noon at Easton Stadium. Game times for the tournament are as follows:

Game 1 Noon - #2 UNLV vs. #3 Cal State Fullerton
Game 2 2:30 pm - #1 UCLA vs. #4

Game 3 10 am - Winner Game 1 vs. Winner Game 2
Game 4 12:30 pm - Loser Game 1 vs. Loser Game 2
Game 5 3 pm- Loser Game 3 vs. Winner Game 4

Game 4 Noon - Winner Game 3 vs. Winner Game 5
Game 5 2:30 pm- If Necessary

Tickets will be available at the gate. Single-day passes are $10 for adults and $6 for students. All-Session passes will also be available.

With its selection to the 2005 NCAA tournament field, UCLA has now been invited to 22 of a possible 24 Regional Tournaments. The Bruins have won 10 NCAA (1982-84-85-88-89-90-92-99-2003-04) and 11 total National Championships (1978 AIAW), and have played in the NCAA Championship game a record 17 times. UCLA won the 1995 NCAA Championship, but its participation in that tournament was later vacated by the NCAA. The Bruins were not invited to the NCAA tournament on two occasions, in 1986, and in 1998, a year in which UCLA was ineligible for postseason play.
