SACRAMENTO, Calif.- The second-ranked California men captured their 12thPac-10 title and theseventh in eight years, while the defending Pac-10 Champion andsecond-ranked California womenwon their second consecutive Conference crown Sunday at the Pacific-10Conference RowingChampionships at Lake Natoma in Rancho Cordova, Calif.

The California women won two individual titles -- the varsity eight andsecond varsity eight.Washington finished second behind the Bears in team points, placing fourthin the women's varsityeight but taking first in the women's novice eight race. USC finishedthird, its highest finish ever inthe Pac-10 Championship, with 53 points. The sixth-seed Women of Troy tookfirst in the varsityfour over the second-seeded Washington Huskies. The Bruins followed infourth with 49 points,Stanford placed fifth with 43 and Washington State took sixth with 38points. Rounding out thetop-8 are Oregon State with 33 and Oregon with four points, respectively.

The Golden Bear men finished strong as they took the varsity eight grandfinal, just ahead offourth-ranked Washington to take first place honors in the team standings.Washington tooksecond-place, taking first in the second varsity eight, second in thefreshman/novice eight andsecond in the varsity eight. Stanford, after placing fourth in eightconsecutive championships,finished tied for third for its highest finish since 1997 with Oregon Stateat 42 points. UCLAfinished fifth with 34 points, followed by Washington State in sixth with26 and Oregon with 5 inseventh place.
