Cardinal Prepare For NCAA Women's Golf Championships

Stanford, Calif. - The Stanford women's golf team prepares for the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championships, which will be conducted May 17-20, at Sunriver Resort, the Meadows Course, in Sunriver, Oregon. Oregon State University and Sunriver Resort are hosting the championships.

The Cardinal will be paired with Washington and Arkansas for tee times on Tuesday and Wednesday. They will tee off from the 10th tee on May 17, beginning at 10 a.m., and from the first tee on May 18, beginning at 2 p.m.

Three regional competitions were held May 5-7. Of the 324 regional participants, 126 advanced to the finals. Eight teams and two individuals, not on a selected team, advanced from each regional.

All participants will compete throughout the entire 72 holes of competition at the NCAA Championships. In the team competition, the low four scores for each team will count in each day's total score.

The selected teams and individuals are listed below.

Individuals: 1. Kristen Svicarovich, Vanderbilt 2. Jenna Pearson, South Carolina 3. Lisa Ferrero, Texas 4. Brooke Shelton, LSU 5. Kay Hoey, Long Beach State 6. Johnna Nealy, Oregon

Last year UCLA overcame several rain delays and stiff competition from a top-notch field to win its second Division I Women's Golf Championships team title May 18-22 at Auburn's Grand National Golf Course. The Cardinal tied for 12th last season (303-296-298-298--1195). Individually, Lauren Todd tied for 44th (77-5-72-73--297), Stephanie Lue tied for 69th (77-73-80-73--303) and Jennifer Tangtiphaiboontana tied for 88th (73-76-77-81--307).

This year, the Cardinal lineup will be Kelly Husted, Jennifer Tangtiphaboontana, Lauren Todd, Wendra Liang and Stephanie Lue.
