Jamil Al-Agba Set To Begin Play In NCAA Singles And Doubles Tourney

No. 19-ranked USC sophomore Jamil Al-Agba will open play in the 2005 NCAA Men's Division I Tennis Singles Championships at Texas A&M's George P. Mitchell Tennis Center on Wednesday (May 25) with a first round match against No. 27 Nathan Thompson of Clemson.
Al-Agba also will participate in the NCAA Doubles tourney with senior Johan Berg. The duo, ranked No. 35, begin with a first round match against No. 36 Niels Buksik and Sandy Farquharson of Texas-Arlington on Thursday (May 26).
Al-Agba, who is 16-16 in overall singles play in 2005, lost to Thompson this past mid-March in a dual match at USC, 7-5, 6-0. If he beats Thompson, Al-Agba will face the winner of the match between No. 2 Benedikt Dorsch of Baylor and No. 80 Mark Barry of Penn State in the second round on Thursday.
Al-Agba and Berg are 10-8 in overall doubles play this year. If they win, they'll advance to the second round on Friday (May 27) to meet the winner of the match between No. 9 Ockie Oosthuizen and Ben Rogers of Tennessee and No. 30 Jonathan Chu and Ashwin Kumar of Harvard.
