Conor Niland Victorious in NCAA Round of 64

College Station, TX - Junior Conor Niland tallied a victory in today's NCAA Championships Round of 64 singles tournament. The win, over Wake Forests Derrick Spice, advances Niland to tomorrow's Round of 32 to face the winner of Harvard's Jonathan Chu vs. Pedro Rico of Pepperdine at Texas A&M's George P. Mitchell Tennis Center.
Niland, currently ranked No. 13 in the nation and a 9-16 seed for the tournament, defeated No. 47 Spice in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4.
The win is Niland's 25th of the year, whose overall record is 25-13, with six of those victories coming over opponents ranked nationally in the Top 25.
The Limerick, Ireland, native has received several postseason accolades, being named first team All-Pac-10 as well as the ITA West Region's Player to Watch.
In addition to his singles match, Niland will be participating in tomorrow's doubles tournament with partner Patrick Briaud, who will face Rohan Gajjar and Adrians Zguns of Arkansas in the Round of 32.
