Huskies Land Four Women's Tennis Players On Pac-10 All-Academic Team

WALNUT CREEK, CALIF. - Four Washington women's tennis players were selected to the 2005 Pac-10 All-Academic Team conference commissioner Tom Hansen announced today. Senior Dea Sumantri was a first-team selection, junior Dinka Hadzic and sophomore Saskia Nauenberg were second-team honorees, and junior Stephanie Svanfeldt earned honorable mention acclaim.
Sumantri (Jakarta, Indonesia) was named to the Pac-10 All-Academic first-team for the second-straight year. She was a second-team honoree in 2003. Sumantri has a 3.49 grade point average and will graduate this week with a degree in business administration.
Hadzic (Split Croatia) earned second-team honors after being named to the honorable mention squad last season. Hadzic has a 3.36 gpa and is majoring in communication. Joining her on the second team was Nauenberg (Santa Cruz, Calif.) who has a 3.59 gpa and is majoring in political science. The honor was Nauenberg's first.
Rounding out the Washington honorees was Svanfeldt (Belvedere, Calif.) who was selected to the honorable mention team for the second consecutive year. Svanfeldt has a 3.29 gpa and is majoring in psychology.
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
