Down Under Diaries - Lindsey Pluimer
Hey Bruin Family! Well, it's day seven of our Australia trip. I can't believe how fast it has gone by. I guess it's true - time does fly when you're having fun!
Today was a day full of events. We started our day off with the hotel breakfast, which everyone seemed to really like. Then we went to the Aboriginal park here in Cairns. At the park, we were able to visually see the aboriginals' culture, which was a great experience. Once we arrived, we learned how to throw spears and boomerangs. While participating in the boomerang throwing, however, Shaina encountered an unfortunate accident. Thankfully, she wasn't too seriously hurt.
Following the park, we were given time to shop and explore through an arts and craft area. I came home empty-handed, but many of the girls found some neat, creative souvenirs.
After leaving the shopping market, we went to this amazing pizzeria. I would have to say this was my favorite meal of the trip. For all of you that know me, you know that I'm a pretty plain eater, but this cheese pizza was delicious!
Later on, we left for our last game of the trip. I thought our team played hard and picked up the intensity, but unfortunately, we ended up with a loss. But I'm a firm believer that you learn from your mistakes. I think our team learned from the game, along with the other three games. It has been an amazing experience to see another part of the world; not only to travel, but to travel with a great group of girls. I feel this experience has enabled us to learn more about each other and bond through this amazing opportunity.
Thanks to all the people that made this trip possible! Thanks for all of your love and support! We miss you guys!
p.s. Just wanted to say to my family, friends, and Anth, I miss you guys!
