Mackenzie and Wang Advance at PNGA Amateur

Seattle - Washington senior Paige Mackenzie and junior Amy Wang both advanced through the first round of match play at the Pacific Northwest Golf Association's Women's Amateur Championship being contest at Twin Lakes Golf and Country Club in Federal Way. Mackenzie defeated Shannon Ogg 5 and 3 while Wang downed Charise Spada 4 and 2. Junior Courtney McCracken lost in her match, 6 and 5 to Maria Kostina.

Mackenzie and Wang are among the eight players remaining in the field. The quarterfinals and semifinals are scheduled for Thursday. Wang is the event's defending champion.

Husky senior Sung Ea Lee was defeated in the first round of match play at the 29th U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship at the Swope Memorial Golf Course in Kansas City, Missouri. Lee fell to defending Champion Ya-Ni Tseng of Chinese Taipei 3 and 1.

Washington junior Ashley Bickerton begins play at the Canadian Women's Open Thursday. Bickerton, a member of Canada's national team, was granted an exemption into the professional event that will be played at Glen Arbour Golf Course in Hammond Plains, Nova Scotia
