Matt Leinart Wins 2005 ESPY For Best Male College Athlete

USC Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Matt Leinart won a 2005 ESPY Award for Best Male College Athlete on Wednesday (July 13) in ceremonies at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles.

The ESPYs, hosted by actor Matthew Perry, will air on ESPN on Sunday, July 17 at 9 p.m. ET.

USC was well represented at the 2005 ESPYs, with Leinart, coach Pete Carroll and All-American tailback Reggie Bush in attendance at the star-studded evening.

Carroll was up for an ESPY for Best Coach/Manager (won by the New England Patriots' Bill Belichick).

Bush represented the USC football team, which was nominated for Best Team (won by the Boston Red Sox).

Leinart also was nominated for Best Championship Performance for his Orange Bowl showing (won by the Boston Red Sox's Curt Schilling in the World Series).
