Ahmed Hussein Wins Three Medals In The Mediterranean Games

TEMPE, Ariz. (www.thesundevils.com) -- Former Arizona State University All-American swimmer Ahmed Hussein won three medals for his native country of Egypt at the recently completed Mediterranean Games held in Almeria, Spain (June 24-July 3).
The three-time All-American at ASU from 2001-2004 was the only backstroke specialist to medal in all three contested events (50m backstroke, 100m backstroke, 200m backstroke). He won a bronze medal in the 50m (25.86) and the 200m (2:01.61). In his last race of the meet, Hussein finished second in the 100m event in a time of 56.06 to win the silver medal.
Hussein, who grew up in Fullerton, Calif., also competed for Egypt in the Olympics in 2000 (Sydney) and 2004 (Athens).
