Koscor Heads to Junior Pan American Championships This Weekend

July 28, 2005

Redshirt freshman Boldizsar Kocsor will head to Windsor, Ontario, Canada July 28-31 to compete in the Junior Pan American Championships in the hammer throw.

Kocsor earned the trip to Windsor after winning the USATF Junior National Championships in June with a throw of 214-6. At Junior Nationals, Kocsor had two early fouls and was forced to make a two-turn 'safety throw' in order to advance to the finals. Once in the finals, Kocsor unleashed a new personal best of 214-6 to win, besting his competitors by more then five feet.

Two weeks ago at the Summer Games, hosted by Azusa Pacific University July 16-17, Kocsor again set a personal best, this time throwing 219-5. At Pan Ams, Kocsor will vie for the gold medal and is one of the favorites going into the competition.
