Men's Soccer Ranked No. 4 In College Soccer News Pre-Season Poll

The UCLA men's soccer team has been ranked No. 4 in the College Soccer News preseason poll. The Bruins, which finished the 2004 campaign with a 14-4-2 record, will face nine other Top 30 teams in 2005, including No. 1 Indiana in an Aug. 19 exhibition and No. 25 Santa Clara and No. 3 Maryland on opening weekend in September.

Two-time defending NCAA champion Indiana sits atop the polls, followed by Duke, Maryland, UCLA and St. John's. New Mexico, UC Santa Barbara, Creighton, Connecticut and SMU round out the Top 10.

The Bruins kick off play on Aug. 19 with an exhibition against Indiana in Ft. Wayne. The Bruins will officially open the regular season against Santa Clara on Sept. 2 at Fullerton and will host Maryland on Sept. 4 at Frank W. Marshall Field at Drake Stadium. Other home games for UCLA include matches against No. 7 UC Santa Barbara (Oct. 20), No. 22 California (Sept. 30) and No. 26 Washington (Oct. 30).

College Soccer News has also ranked UCLA's recruiting class No. 4 in the nation.
