Stanford Seeks Second Straight NCAA Title; Season Tickets Now On Sale

Aug. 12, 2005

Stanford, Ca - The Stanford Women's Volleyball program has won the NCAA title two of the last four years (2001, 2004), and although the team graduated three key starters including national player of the Year, Ogonna Nnamani, from last year's championship squad, the 2005 Cardinal is again loaded with talented veterans and what is possibly the greatest collection of freshmen in school history.

The Cardinal is ranked third in the pre-season national CSTV/AVCA poll, and according to sophomore starter Franci Girard, Stanford Volleyball will again be fun to watch this year.

'Each person on the team has something unique and important to add,' said Girard. 'Our returning players have come back even stronger this year, and our freshmen are ready and willing to work. Combined with our excellent coaching staff, we will be an awesome team to watch.'

Stanford returns to the friendly confines of Maples Pavilion after the longtime home of StanfordWWomen's Volleyball underwent a $25 million renovation which forced the Cardinal to play at Burnham Pavilion last year. Previous to last season, Stanford chalked up a 47-3 over a three year period against some of the nation's top volleyball powers.

With enthusiasm for the women's volleyball program at an all-time high, season tickets for Stanford Women's Volleyball are now on sale. The Cardinal will have a 12-game home schedule during the regular season. The home slate includes matches against second-ranked Washington (Oct. 8, 7:00 p.m.), seventh-ranked USC (Sept. 23, 7:00 p.m.), 13th-ranked UCLA (Sept. 24, 7:00 p.m.), 15th-ranked UC Santa Barbara (Sept. 17, 5:00 p.m., Stanford Invitational), 17th ranked Arizona (Nov. 11, 7:00 p.m.), 19th-ranked California (Nov. 18, 7:00 p.m.), and 23th-ranked St. Mary's (Sept. 15, 7:00 p.m., Stanford Invitational).

Stanford reserved (lower) season tickets are available for as low as $80. General Admission (end zone and upper) are available for as low as $55.
