Arizona State's Elizabeth Bogus Named Pac-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week

Sept. 6, 2005

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Arizona State senior forward Elizabeth Bogus has been named the Pac-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week for Aug. 30- Sept. 5, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Bogus, from Sandy, Utah, recorded her first two goals of the season Friday night in ASU's thrilling 3-2, double-overtime victory against UC Irvine in Tempe. With ASU trailing, 2-1, with just under five minutes remaining, Bogus collected a pass, turned and dribbled through three defenders to score the equalizer. Then, in the second overtime, teammate Lauren Niblett sent a cross into the box that, after skipping off the keeper's hands, came to Bogus who drove home the winning goal into the empty net.

Her 22 career goals move her into 5th on the all-time list at ASU and her 58 points also stand in fifth place in the record books. Bogus was named the 2002 Pac-10 Freshman of the Year and was a second-team All-Pac-10 selection last season.

This is Bogus' third Pac-10 Player of the Week honor and ASU's eighth weekly honor all-time. She also received the honor on Oct. 1, 2002 and Oct. 29, 2002 during her breakout freshman season.

ALSO NOMINATED: Liz Eisenberg, Sr., F, CAL; Nicole Garbin, Sr., F, ORE; Leah Tapscott, Sr., MF, STAN; Rosa Anna Tantillo, Jr., MF, USC.
