Sept. 19, 2005

BERKELEY, CALIF. - The 2006 California baseball team will host the annual fall Cal Baseball Alumni Game, Sunday, Oct. 16 at 1 p.m. at Evans Diamond. The Golden Bear baseball program will also feature a Papa Bears Alumni Game beginning at 10 a.m. Admission is free.

The Bears, who finished 34-23 (13-11 in the Pac-10) last season under head coach David Esquer, return several experienced players from a squad that finished the 2005 campaign as one of the best teams in the Pac-10, including sophomore second baseman Josh Satin (2005 Freshman All-American), junior center fielder Brennan Boesch (2005 first-team All-Pac-10) and senior left fielder Allen Craig (2005 honorable mention All-Pac-10, Baseball America Summer All-American).

The Bears will open their regular 2006 season with a three-game series at UC Irvine Feb. 3-5, before hosting San Francisco in the home-opener, Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 1:30 p.m. at Evans Diamond. Cal will then host Long Beach State in a three-game series, Feb. 10-12 at Evans Diamond.
