Kiki Lara Joins Washington State Soccer Staff
Sept. 30, 2005
'To add a quality individual to our staff at this point in time in the season is a wonderful energizer,' said WSU Head Coach Matt Potter. 'Kiki has an infectious enthusiasm for the game and personality that fits.'
Lara, a United Soccer League - Division 1 midfielder with the Minnesota Thunder, will spend his off-season with WSU before resuming his professional career at the end of December. Lara returns to Minnesota for his third season with the Thunder.
Lara graduated from the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas, in 2004 after a solid playing career with the Cardinals. The Las Cruces, N.M., native was a three-time All-American and two-time scholar All-American while at UIW.
'With the quality of staff we have in Lindsey Jorgensen, athletic trainer Yas Nomura and other our support staff, Kiki will be a great compliment and move us closer to being the team we need to be to help our student-athletes be at their best,' Potter added. 'Already, he has jumped right in to the tasks at hand where he can help in the development of our student-athletes and program.'
Lara's wife Ashley is a senior defender on the WSU soccer team.
