Mackenzie and U.S. Team Off to Slow Start at Spirit International

Trinity, TX - Washington senior Paige Mackenzie and the U.S. Women's team is in 11th place after the first day of play at The Spirit International Amateur Championships at Whispering Pines Golf Club in Trinity, Texas.

Playing with Arkansas' Amanda McCurdy, the two American turned in a combined score of 1-under 71 under the best ball format. England leads the women's team scoring with a 7-under effort.

The U.S. men's team was tied for fifth after posting a score of 6-under 66. Canada and Italy top the men's side at 8-under 64.

In combined play. The U.S. team is tied for eighth while South Africa leads the 24-team field.
