Hamm Named to Soccer America, Soccer Buzz Team of the Week

Oct. 14, 2005

BERKELEY, Calif. - California defender Tracy Hamm was named to Soccer America and Soccer Buzz's national Team of the Week for her play against Washington and Washington State last weekend.

Hamm scored two goals, including the game-winner, in Cal's 3-0 shutout of Washington State Oct. 9. They were her first goals since the 2003 season, when she played on the Bears' frontline.

The senior from Moraga, Calif., also was instrumental in the Bears (9-2-1, 2-0 Pac-10) posting their seventh and eighth shutouts of the season. Cal blanked Washington, 1-0, on Oct. 7, marking the team's first sweep of the Huskies and the Cougars since 1999.

Hamm helped the Bears limit Washington to three shots and Washington State to one. She led Cal with four shots against the Huskies.

Cal's 0.39 goals-against average ranks No. 4 in the country. The Bears, who have started the same backline for all of their games this season, travel to No. 15 Stanford Saturday, Oct. 15 at 1 p.m. The contest can be seen live on Comcast SportsNet.
